Launching new walking parties; information about Part 2 of our core learning journey
Please note that we will be launching new walking parties over the next few weeks. Out of Eden Learn veterans will know that based on feedback from last year, we divided our core learning journey into two parts. Here is an overview of the two parts, which we have recently renamed:
WALKING THE WORLD PART 1: THE PRESENT AND THE LOCAL
FOOTSTEP 1: SETTING OFF
FOOTSTEP 2: CREATING NEIGHBORHOOD MAPS
FOOTSTEP 3: TAKING NEIGHBORHOOD WALKS
FOOTSTEP 4: LISTENING TO NEIGHBORS’ STORIES
FOOTSTEP 5: DOCUMENTING THE EVERYDAY
FOOTSTEP 6: LOOKING AHEAD
WALKING THE WORLD PART 2: THE PAST AND THE GLOBAL
FOOTSTEP 1: SETTING OFF/REVIEWING PART 1
FOOTSTEP 2: RELATING OUR OWN LIVES TO THE PAST
FOOTSTEP 3: LEARNING FROM OTHER GENERATIONS
FOOTSTEP 4: CONNECTING EVERYDAY OBJECTS TO BIGGER SYSTEMS
FOOTSTEP 5: NOTICING GLOBAL FORCES IN THE EVERYDAY
FOOTSTEP 6: PLANNING NEXT STEPS
We are currently finalizing the curriculum for WALKING THE WORLD PART 2, which we will make available in due course. We expect classes to complete WALKING THE WORLD PART 1 before proceeding to WALKING THE WORLD PART 2. Please follow these registration instructions:
FOR WALKING THE WORLD PART 1:
If you are new to Out of Eden Learn please register by clicking on the blue “Educators Register” button at the top right of our website, being sure to add the class or classes you want to participate in a learning journey. If you already have an educator’s account, please log into your account and add new classes.
Then look out for an email asking you to confirm that you are ready and able to participate: we will not assign your class or classes to a walking party unless we receive your confirmation. We will start launching walking parties who want to follow WALKING THE WORLD PART 1 the week of January 19th.
FOR WALKING THE WORLD PART 2:
If your class has completed or will soon complete WALKING THE WORLD PART 1, they can participate in WALKING THE WORLD PART 2, which we will launch at the end of January. We are still working on the registration process for this learning journey: please do not try to register for this learning journey until we send further instructions. Please note that you will be able to request to stay with one or more classes from your current walking party or a different walking party.
